The firm is listed in the roster of firms recognized as qualified bond counsel published in the Bond Buyer’s Municipal Marketplace (the "Red Book") and has participated in numerous public finance transactions in the area of municipal finance serving as bond counsel, underwriters’ counsel, or borrower’s counsel.
Our public finance transactions have included municipal and state general obligation bonds, municipal tax-exempt revenue and general obligation bonds, Connecticut Housing Finance Authority mortgage revenue bonds, taxable bonds, 501(c)(3) bonds issued through Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority, tax incremental financing bonds, credit enhanced variable rate bonds, and conduit special obligation bonds issued through the Connecticut Development Authority. Sample projects include nursing homes, hospitals, a health care clinic, resource recovery facility, special needs housing and various other housing projects, and a minor league baseball stadium.
The firm has the municipal finance and tax background to assist in the structuring of bond issues for the refunding of old issues or the raising of new proceeds for the construction of public works projects and improvements. We take a proactive approach to consulting with the appropriate authorities and assisting in the approval process by appearing at public hearings and meetings as required. The firm also assists in obtaining credit ratings from applicable rating agencies and in arranging municipal bond insurance policies.
