Elder Law/Medicaid Planning
TCORS’ Elder Law practice involves counsel on challenging issues that confront the elderly, including nursing home admissions, home healthcare planning, trusts and estates, long-term care insurance policies and Medicaid planning (also known as Title XIX planning). An important part of our practice involves the intricacies of Medicaid (Title XIX), a constantly changing area of law. TCORS assists and advises our clients from the initial application, including the compilation of supporting documents, to fair hearings before the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS).
Our attorneys also provide advice on advanced healthcare planning, which typically includes the review of long-term care policies, transfers of assets contemplated by the client, and the tax consequences associated with such transfers for gift, estate and capital gains tax purposes.
