Robert D. Tobin

Robert D. (Bob) Tobin joined the firm in 1968 and became a partner of the firm in 1970. His involvement in a number of prominent cases at both the state and federal level during this time helped to expand the firm’s litigation practice. He has maintained the highest ranking conferred by legal colleagues through the peer rating system maintained by the National Legal Directory, Marintindale Hubbell. In 2012, he was named "Local Litigation Star" by Benchmark Plaintiff in the areas of Appellate, Commercial, Personal Injury and Wrongful Death. He was named one of the top lawyers in Connecticut in Gaming Law, in the 2000-2001 edition of Woodward-White Incorporated’s The Best Lawyers in America, based on a survey of other lawyers. Today, Mr. Tobin practices extensively in the areas of gaming and Indian law, corporate, commercial, appellate, personal injury and wrongful death, and general litigation. Mr. Tobin has lectured for the Connecticut Bar Association and is a Trial Referee appointed by the Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court.
A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Tobin earned both his undergraduate and law degrees at Boston College.
Mr. Tobin is a member of the New London County, Connecticut, and American Bar Associations, the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers, the International Masters of Gaming Law, and the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution. He is admitted to the bar in Connecticut, the U.S. District Court in the District of Connecticut and the U.S. Court of Appeals, 2nd Circuit and United States Supreme Court. Mr. Tobin serves as a trial referee at all judicial districts. In addition, he is a former State Representative from the 37th District.
Mr. Tobin currently serves on the Board of Directors of the East Lyme Public Library and is a general partner and owner of the Pequot Golf Course in Southeastern Connecticut. He was honored by the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southeastern Connecticut in 2008 with its Distinguished Citizen Award.
