Profile Thomas J. Riley has received the highest ranking conferred by legal colleagues through the peer rating system maintained by the National Legal Directory, Martindale Hubbell. He also was named one of the top Employment lawyers in Connecticut, in the 2000-2001 edition of Woodward-White Incorporated’s The Best Lawyers in America, based on a survey of other lawyers. The listing of the top lawyers in Connecticut from that survey appeared in the July 2001 issue of Connecticut Magazine. Before joining the firm, Mr. Riley served as a trial attorney in the Land and Natural Resources Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
Mr. Riley has handled numerous employment matters before the State and Federal Departments of Labor, the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, other State and Federal agencies, the Supreme and Superior Courts of the State of Connecticut, and the Federal courts. Mr. Riley also has represented clients in a wide variety of other complex litigation matters, including appeals, before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the U.S. District Court, and the Connecticut Supreme, Appellate and Superior Courts.Education Mr. Riley graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1974. In 1977, he graduated with High Honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law where he was the recipient of the Cornelius J. Wickersham Award for Constitutional Law and the American Jurisprudence Book Awards in Contracts and Constitutional Law. Mr. Riley serves as a fact-finder/arbitrator at all judicial districts.
