Tobin, Carberry, O’Malley, Riley and Selinger Law Firm of New London recently hosted their 21st Annual TCORS Golf Outing at Pequot Golf Club in Stonington in October.
More than 80 attendees and 70 golfers participated in this year’s outing, which helped raise money for two local charities; Child & Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut and Ocean Community YMCA. Through donations and TCORS matching, a total of $5,000 was raised for the two organizations.
“We are thankful to be among the philanthropic priorities of the firm and happy to put these funds to work immediately to make meaningful impact in our community,” said Laura Evans, Vice President of Development and Community Engagement at Ocean Community.
The Child & Family Agency’s CEO, Richard Calvert also thanked the attendees for their support of that organization’s important services to families in the area.
In addition to Child & Family and the YMCA, attendees were able to donate to charities of their choosing. Other local organizations, such as Safe Futures, The Arc of New London County, Protectors of Animals and the Alzheimer’s Association also received donations.
In a letter from Safe Futures, Executive Director Catherine Zeiner said “Your gift will help make amazing things happen. We are so grateful.” Safe Futures is an organization that helps men, woman and children of domestic violence and sexual assault in Southeastern Connecticut.
Local businesses and organizations were in attendance, such as Cross Sound Ferry Services, Carlin Construction Company, First American Title Insurance Company, People’s United Bank, AR Building Company and Middlesex Hospital, to name a few.
Closing remarks were made to the attendees by TCORS Partner, Jerry O’Malley. “We had another fun outing with clients and friends on a beautiful day, and raised money for some great community non-profits as well. Thanks to everyone who participated and, of course, Pequot Golf Course for hosting.”
