About The Best Lawyers in America© and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch
Best Lawyers has published their list for nearly four decades, earning the respect of the profession, the media, and the public as the most reliable, unbiased source of legal referrals. Its first international list was published in 2006 and has grown to provide lists in over 75 countries.
Best Lawyers lists have been compiled by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which tens of thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. If the votes for an attorney are positive enough for inclusion in Best Lawyers, that attorney must maintain those votes in subsequent polls to remain on the list for each edition. Lawyers are not permitted to pay any fee to participate in or be included on their lists.
Lawyers on The Best Lawyers in America list are divided by geographic region and practice areas. They are reviewed by their peers on the basis of professional expertise and undergo an authentication process to make sure they are in current practice and in good standing. Attorneys recognized in The Best Lawyers in America© are vetted through an extensive nomination process.
Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch awards are recognitions given to attorneys who are earlier in their careers for outstanding professional excellence in private practice in the United States. Awards for both lists are based on 77 areas of expertise including Administrative/Regulatory Law, Corporate Law, Criminal Defense, Elder Law, Health Care Law, Patent Law, Public Finance Law, to name a few.
